A nova administração do Met ventila boas novas, para os amantes desta mítica sala nova-iorquina (como eu!!!).
"Well, Mr. Gelb, who assumes his post in August, will formally announce his plans for future seasons during a news conference today. Many of the productions he is promising show astute taste. Moreover, he has secured commitments from some famously recalcitrant maestros and directors. Riccardo Muti, the Italian perfectionist conductor, will finally make his Met debut, and in an early Verdi rarity, "Attila." Rossini's fantastical "Armida" will be staged for Renée Fleming in a production by Mary Zimmerman, who wrote and directed the mesmerizing play "Metamorphoses." I'm especially excited that Esa-Pekka Salonen will make his Met debut conducting Janacek's astounding "From the House of the Dead" in a new production directed by the visionary Patrice Chéreau, also in his Met debut." (in New York Times, 13/02/2006)
Novos maestros, novas produções e uma ousada (ou arriscada?) aposta no repertório contemporâneo de fronteira.
